Update: the Guardian UK Law School Ranking 2017 has been released
Like every year in June, the Guardian’s annual ranking of UK law schools (University Guide: Guardian League Table for Law) has been released.
Now in its 2016 edition, this ranking still relies on student satisfaction with teaching and feedback; student to staff ratio; spend per student; average student entry tariff; career after six months; and a ‘value added score’ to determine each institution’s placement.
Like every law school ranking, this should be taken with a grain of salt. For example, it seems difficult to reconcile certain top 10 schools’ rankings with their low entry tariffs or low percentage of employed graduates. Also, for a number of schools, the ranking does not seem to align with their reputation – and this is true for several top ranked schools as well as lower ranked schools.
Nevertheless, here’s the Guardian’s ranking of the top 10 U.K. law schools (with each school’s 2015 position in brackets):
